Beatitudes and Suffering

The key in all of this is that the righteous (blood bought disciples of Jesus Christ) will suffer at the hands of people who are fully vested in this life; whereas we should strive to be fully commited to Jesus Christ.

Temporary Circumstances

We cannot understand our present troubles until we trust in God and give our concerns up to God.  Then we need to trust in God’s timetable and be ready to accept what He sends our way.  If a person has made bad choices or been the victim of crime, there may indeed be consequences that may change their current circumstances permanently.  Still we need to trust.  Don’t abandon the ship before God gives a solution.

Put On Charity

Charity can be equated to agape’ love.  This kind of love is aid and comfort given to someone without qualification.  Churches often fall short of this because as individuals they expect to receive appreciation.  But that would be qualifying the nature of the recipient.

Thinking of Discipleship

Notice that we are baptized into His death. Jesus did not need to recover from His past; but we do. Also notice that we’re not left there. But we are raised to a new life. But we are also called to complete His mission (the salvation of lost souls).

Here and Now

If the Holy Spirit is recognized in the church, then we are a part of His Kingdom. And the disciples lived to see this at Pentecost. God is intending us “to act” and not wait for the return of Jesus while neglecting to do His work in the here and now.

Study the Bible

Studying the Bible is not what most men do. But what they don’t realize is what a treasure they have at their fingertips. I’ve heard it said that “everything that’s needed in the Bible is in the Bible”. I’ve also heard it said that the best commentary of the Bible is the Bible.
