These are the statements from Jesus that are all counter-intuitive. Men especially would have trouble with these statements; unless they’re Christian. Even then, the nature of men, in general, would have trouble following most or at least some some of what Jesus stated to His Disciples
My wife and I are in the process of moving. WOW! We had talked about this, but just for the future. But how many of us know that the future can come abruptly into our lives. We need to prepare for the future – whatever that may be. We’ve been preparing for that both practically and spiritually.
I’ve seen people in recovery be successful, only to stumble from exhaustion and end up worse than when they’ve started. I’ve seem legalists so involved in judging others that the sin they were so focused on overtook themselves. And I’ve seen church members overwhelmed with guilt and no-one willing to help them.
There is nothing more important in the life of a Christian or in the life of a church . But unfortunately a lot of time spent in prayer is not properly focused.
I think there are a great number of shortfalls in the characters of American men. But first I’m going to try to define what a Godly man should look like. And I’m going to be honest and not use myself as an example.
The two most intimate settings in a person’s life is their family and their place of work. In the case of the home the husband is the accountable person to God for ther family.
Rick Warren writes “Many Church Fellowships and Small Groups remain superficial because they are afraid of conflict.” But real Spiritual growth and maturity take deliberate efforts, thoughtfulness, and commitment to do the hard work sculpting a new person who is accountable to God and his church community to be a strong, loving, and effective Christian who attracts non-believers.
This is a hot-button issue for me. I will add more posts on this topic under the tag Cohabitation. While my wife and I have not had a perfect marriage – we’ve had an improving marriage. And joining a Bible believing church was the step in the right direction.
Paul was arguably the greatest Evangelist in the history of the church. And certainly, the most prolific New Testament writer. Then how could he also seem to be battling personal sin?
I apparently had a swallowing problem before my surgery that was manageable. But it was impossible after the surgery (5 hours with a tube down my throat).
