Mourning for a loved one is only temporal and certain sooner or later. But for a person lost in sin there is an eternal consequence and it’s not good.
In 2020 it’s hard to find things to be thankful for. I remember in the great recession of 2008 that people fell out of the middle class and never found their way back. I know there’s a large percentage of our population that make just enough to survive; and now a great portion of them have lost their jobs and could soon be homeless.
As men how truly adventuresome are we? Don’t we all aspire to be significant? And in what way? Does our spiritual life figure into this equation?
Ever wonder why Job was admonished at the end of this story? We all know his three friends were admonished also. But what about the fourth man Elihu? And why did God interrupt him but did not admonish him?
The fear of the LORD comes because of our inherent sinful nature which will not allow us to love God and to put God above us. The sin of Adam and Eve was to buy into Satan’s lie and to put ourselves in the place of God. They forfeited that birthright to Satan who rules the dark forces of this world.
Did you miss it? I know I did – often. I’ve discovered I’ve been looking for the silver lining in white clouds. I’ve learned I should have been looking in dark clouds. After all isn’t that the saying “every cloud has a silver lining”?
