The point in both cases is looking out for the welfare of others. That’s humility. Pride is the virus that makes people think of themselves first, and many times only.
When I sing this song at karaoke it reminds me of a grown man who is unable to walk away from a bad relationship. I don’t know why that would be, but I’ve seen it many times.

Biblically “moral” and compassionate Christians do enjoy greater satisfaction in their lives. This is beccause they enjoin a synergy with the Creator of our existence.
