Charity can be equated to agape’ love. This kind of love is aid and comfort given to someone without qualification. Churches often fall short of this because as individuals they expect to receive appreciation. But that would be qualifying the nature of the recipient.
wayocross has been a part of several ministries that involved men. He's aware of the many pit falls that men face including himself. He was born with a cleft palate and a speech impediment and as a result empathizes with men who have lost their way. He also recognizes that men being "self-sufficient" are often the last to know that they weren't. As a former leader in four churches and children's Sunday School teacher and children's tutor he sees the tragic future many youth face based on their own bad decisions learned from their parents (loosely interpreted). He believes scripture can be applied to most of the "hurts, habits, hang-ups, and addictions* that men face. * terminology borrowed from Celebrate Recovery ministry founded by John Baker at Saddleback Church in California.
I will be writing a series of posts about the scourge of cohabitatinon inour country. They will all use the tag “Cohabitation”. I feel this cultural shift in our population threatens marriage, the well-being of churches who don’t address it, and of course the children.
I apparently had a swallowing problem before my surgery that was manageable. But it was impossible after the surgery (5 hours with a tube down my throat).
Besides wanting to call on God, we’ve already made a visible expression of wanting to follow Christ. As we have been raised to a new life in Baptism; we should seek out those things that are pure and represent the purity or holiness of God and Jesus.
The “Law of Sin and Death” relies on us to maintain our own individual morality. So we depend on the flesh controlling the flesh. From the outside that may look successful. But it falls short of perfection, which is the standard under the law.
This passage comes after a long list of worldly sins. Sins that we would presume don’t exist in the church. So why the following verses?
To say a church is Pro-Life doesn’t answer the question “what do they do”? is the congregation willing to sacrifice to get sinners on the right track in life?
What happened to wayocross you might ask. I had heart surgery for a leaking heart valve. That was the easy part. The recovery and rehab were the hardest. Also not helped by my attitude. If I felt better I’d finish this post – but I don’t feel better […]
There are two exceptional people in the Bible known for their dreams. One is the best known dreamer and one the least known dreamer.
“Who am I” is an elementary question everyone has to answer. But have you ever asked this question of yourself? Do you like who you see in the mirror?
