Raised with Jesus

As Christian men we must struggle for our faith; because there are enemies of our faith who will use deception to throw us off-track.

On Course

(Colossians 2:8-10 WEB) 8Beware lest any man make a prey of you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, who is the head of all principality and power:

But we can stay on course if follow close by Jesus. And how else are we able to stand up against Satan and the world system? It is only by accepting the comforter, the Holy Spirit, that we will be complete. We will receive blessings being in Jesus’ fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

(John 16:13-15 WEB) 13But, when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all the truth: for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he shall hear, [that] will he speak: and he will show you things to come. 14He will glorify me: for he will receive of mine, and will show [it] to you. 15All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore I said, that he will take of mine, and show [it] to you.

Jesus describes how the Comforter/Holy Spirit, God, and Jesus Himself are in constant communication with each other. But the real question is if we’re tuned in to this conversation. Often we’re like the car radio on a long trip and each station we tune in grows fainter as we distant ourselves from the radio tower. But if we have SIRUS then we should stay tuned in. I haven’t paid the price for SIRUS on my car radio so I have to constantly adjust the tuner. But we should all be willing to pay the price for being tuned in to the Holy Spirit.

Now for a personal undenominational view on how the Holy Spirit enters our life. Note in two different accounts in Acts. Baptism is associated with the receiving of the Holy Spirit. And Paul believed in Jesus the minute he was told to go to Damascus.

(Acts 9:9, 17 WEB) 9And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank. … 17And Ananias went, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him, said, Brother Saul, the Lord ([even] Jesus that appeared to thee in the way as thou camest) hath sent me, that thou mayest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 22:16 WEB) And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

The passages in Acts that I listed are a lead-in to literally understanding the following passage in Colossians.

(Colossians 2:11-12 WEB) 11In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12Buried with him in baptism, in which also ye are raised with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

The phrase “with Him” means the Holy Spirit. We are now a new creature. We have just been born anew. And birth denotes growing into an adult.

(Colossians 2:13-15 WEB) 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he made alive together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14Blotting out the hand-writing of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15[And] having despoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Our new birth puts us in God’s legions here on Earth. We no longer owe for our debt of sin; past, present, and future. Neither are we beholden to man-made rules, including denominations. And we are no longer in submission the the dark forces of this world or for government definitions of morality. The church will never benefit from government. It is our responsibility to inform the public which are the electors of our representative republic.
